The Daylesford Primary School Kitchen Garden Project was officially launched on Monday December 3rd 2007 at a gathering of children, sponsors and guest in the school gymnasium.

The Kitchen Garden project is officially launched by Alla Wolf-Tasker (left), Executive Chef and Managing Director of the Lake House, Daylesford; Catherine King (centre), Federal Member for Parliament for Ballarat; and Geoff Howard (right), State Member of Parliament for Ballarat.

Catherine King MP, the Federal Member for Ballarat, spoke of the personal and social development of children and how it would be enhanced through participation in the Kitchen Garden program.

Geoff Howard MLA, the State Member for Ballarat East, supported Catherine's comments, and spoke of how he was once a teacher of horticulture himself, and how rewarding growing and preparing your own food and vegetables can be.

Alla Wolf-Tasker, the project's patron from the Lake House Restaurant, then introduced and formally opened the Kitchen Garden Project, by speaking about her life-long love of food and its preparation, and the substantial benefits such a garden could have for children's healthy eating and as a way of introducing them to the hospitality and restaurant industry.
