Absences
If a child is absent from school it is necessary for the school to receive a written explanation.

Early leavers
As part of our safety procedures we ask parents/carers wishing to take their children home from school any time before 3.30 to complete an "Early Leavers Form" at the office before collecting their child from the classroom.

Punctuality
It is important that children arrive on time to begin the school day. Late arrivals may upset class routines as well as the child and learning time is lost. Children should arrive from 8.40am. The school grounds are supervised from 8.45am.

Buses
A very large number of our students travel on school buses. The co-ordination of all bus travel is done by staff at Daylesford Secondary College. The bus driver/school have the right to exclude any child from travelling on the bus if their behaviour is unacceptable. The school must be notified if a change to normal routine is to occur. Unless a note is received by your child's teacher the child will be put on their regular bus. Staff supervise students onto the buses each afternoon.

Valuables
Children should not bring items of value to school unless requested to do so by a staff member for a specific purpose. They will then be cared for by the teacher concerned. Mobile phones, cameras, computer games etc. are not required at school and it is unwise to allow children to bring expensive toys of any kind to school. The school cannot be held  responsible for the loss of, or damage to, valuable items and toys of any kind.

Money
In order to prevent the loss of money sent to school parents are asked to ensure that all of their monies are placed in a properly sealed envelope. The child's name, their individual code number (available from the office) and the purpose for which the money is intended should also be clearly written on the envelope.

School Bank
Once a week parent volunteers process  the children's transactions with the Commonwealth Bank. Notification of bank day will come home in the school newsletter at the start of the year.

Parent helpers
We encourage your support in many program areas. You are always welcome at school. Teachers welcome your assistance and will regularly seek it. Parent education programs are conducted to assist parents in this area.

Jewellery
Whilst the wearing of a wristwatch and studs or sleepers in pierced ears is allowed other jewellery is discouraged for safety reasons. We request that other jewellery be left at home. The school takes no responsibility for the safety of any item of personal jewellery.

Lost Property
All clothing should be named to help students keep track of their clothing. Lost property is regularly displayed and kept until the end of each term before being offered to charitable organisations.

CANTEEN

The main aim of the canteen is to provide nutritious lunches at reasonable prices. The canteen is open on specified days for the purpose of providing lunches.

Ordering Procedures
An order can be placed by writing the child’s name and grade on a large paper bag followed by the item and cost. The bag with money included is then placed in a grade basket and sent to the canteen. Canteen Price Lists are provided for all parents.  Prices are reviewed by the Canteen Sub-Committee, which reports directly to School Council.

Opening Times
Days of canteen operation are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Canteen is closed on the last day of each term due to the 2.30pm finish.

Helpers
Canteen helpers are always needed. Our Canteen Manager draws a roster up each term.
