Parent helpers and volunteer assistants

Our school encourages the support of parents in all or any of the program areas. Teachers welcome your assistance and will regularly seek it.

For many of the extra services provided at our school we rely heavily on parental involvement and help, especially for the Canteen, the Sick Bay Washing and Student Banking.

Canteen
Our school canteen, operated by Bev Adkins, offers a wide range of food (selected in consultation with School Council’s Canteen Sub-Committee). Bev needs assistance Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays between 11.30am and 2.15pm, and especially on Fridays - our busy day! If you can help once or more per term it would be appreciated. For safety reasons it is not possible to bring toddlers.

Sick Bay Washing
With our large student population we need to ensure fresh bed linen is always available. Being on the Sick Bay washing roster means taking home a sheet, doona cover and pillow case and remaking the bed with fresh linen. This is done on a Friday, for return on Monday morning.

Banking
Parent assistance with school banking on Friday mornings also helps with fundraising as a small commission is received by the Parent Support Group Some basic computer knowledge is required and training will be provided.

If you are unable to attend on your roster date, a swap may be arranged with someone else on the roster.

Classroom Helpers
Your assistance is always valuable. Please discuss with your child’s teacher how you can help

Library
Help is always appreciated with shelving, book covering, book repairs, and other work as the need arise, as well as some computer knowledge.

Kitchen Garden Program
This program operates for all children in grades 3-6. Volunteers are required for the garden program which operates on Thursdays, and the kitchen program which will operate on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Fundraising & Other Activities
Assistance is also needed for many projects that directly or indirectly benefit our students. We are particularly looking for assistance with the following activities…

  • Organisation and running of the annual Book Fair
  • School raffles
  • Maintenance of the school’s pine plantation

Please let us know if and how you can help out with any of these activities. Any assistance you can provide is extremely valuable to the school.
